Happy Anniversary

to My Parents

It wasnÂ’t so very long ago...

A band on your finger was placed

You will strive to make this marriage grow

Your ring will not be removed in haste.

And then one day you received a gift

I was your beautiful baby girl.

I cooed...and I cried and before you knew

I had your life in a whirl...

With toothless grins, ribbons and things

Kid stuff and homework and such

When youÂ’d hold my little h and,

I could see a tear sneak by

Because you loved me so much.

And you reflected with awe as I started to grow...

I began to wear make-up instead of a pink bow.

Bur, as you were watching me, I watched you too

And I learned by your actions all the right things to do.

Now to my mother and father from your grown up kid

I want to say "Thank you" for all that you did

For no one else in their whole life through

Will ever have parents as special as you.

I love you both.
