There was a day we received a gift,

You were our beautiful baby girl.

You cooed and you cried and before we knew,

You had our lives in a whirl...

With toothless grins, ribbons and things,

Kid stuff and homework and such.

As we held your little hand, a tear would sneak by,

Because we loved you so much.

We reflect with awe as you started to grow,

You soon were wearing make-up

and not a pink bow.

Then the day came upon us,

there is a knock on the door.

And we suddenly realize

you're not a little girl any more.

Jim is standing before us...

He is the love of your life..

And he proudly announces,

"Melissa will soon be my wife".

Melissa, the time has come now, not to say adieu,

But to let you know Jim that we welcome you,

As the person our daughterÂ’s heart has won...

Into our family, as MelissaÂ’s husband, Our son.
